Restoration Part 3 (Frame Repair2) 【Toyota 2000GT – Episode 8】
Welcome back, or if this is your first visit, nice to meet you! In our last blog, we went over repairing the frame and some bodywork.

In Episode 6, we cleaned the chassis, repaired the corroded areas, and reinforced the No.1 cross member.
Now it'll be harder for the cross member to deform from the jack.
But, we can't be too safe when it comes to protecting a vintage piece like this.
So we'll still take extra care when lifting the car.
Have you ever tried lifting the rear of a 2000GT with a garage jack?
Since there isn't a clearly marked contact area for a jack, it can be hard to find a safe spot to use.

Looking at the car structure, it looks like it was originally desinged to be lifted with a double-post lift.

We took the time to repaint the frame for this restoration. So, we'd like to keep it that way for as long as possible.
Check out the photo above! Soon there'll be a muffler running through the center of the frame. That'll leave even fewer safe spots for the jack lift.

To get around this problem we use a specialized support tool in-house.
You can see it in use above. This tool supports the entire frame while avoiding the area for the muffler pipe.
This way we can lift the car safely with no worries.
★The body painting has been completed!

If you've been following us on Instagram, this photo might be familiar to you.
The paint job turned out beautifully.
Let's take a closer look at the fresh paint job!

The FR face almost looks like it's alive!
Some say it looks like an axolotl.
We wrapped up the paint job with a smooth, polished finish.

Checking out the rear quarter panel, the subtle image reflections are also looking great.

Of course we gave the interior some much needed love, too. There was even mold!
We went the extra mile and took some preventive measures to help keep the mold away.
From here on, we'll take our time reassembling each component as we look towards finishing the restoration.
We can't wait to see what adventures lie in store for us with this restoration.
